Reflexology
Reflexology is a natural, complementary method of caring for the human body. It helps the body relax, achieve physical and mental well-being, and balance its energy. At the same time, it can support the immune system and stimulate the body’s natural capacity for self-healing.
How It Works
Across the surface of the feet, hands, ears, and other parts of the body, there are areas that correspond to organs or anatomical parts. These areas are called Reflex Points.
When specific pressure techniques are applied to these points, the corresponding organs or anatomical areas are reflexively activated, promoting relaxation and stimulating the body’s natural self-healing functions.
Historical Background
The concept of self-healing through reflex points dates back to ancient times. Walking barefoot on stones and soil naturally stimulated the body’s reflex zones.
The earliest traces of organized reflexology are found in China around 3000 B.C., while a mural in the tomb of Ankhamor (2330 B.C.) in the Sahara depicts its application. References also appear in European texts from 1582, and the modern foundation of the method began in 1913.
Basic Principles
Reflexology does not involve medical diagnoses or pharmaceutical instructions. Its approach is energetic and holistic, aiming to strengthen the body and activate its natural balance and self-healing.
It is not applied directly to areas where there is a problem and does not interfere with other forms of treatment; rather, it can complement them, providing more comprehensive care and recovery. Reflexology does not replace medical diagnosis or treatment but can serve as a supportive, complementary approach.
